How We Communicate

This is our morning language,
between human and dog:
It includes both spoken and hand language.
“Wait for it” (with one index finger raised).
“I’m workin’ on it” (with hand palm extended vertically)
“Oh, there it is!” when I’m dressed and have found the leash.
His language is more basic
but no less understood:
one bark for food or a treat,
two barks for water.
