Snow In April

I shouldn’t have looked out the window, but
I was going outside soon anyway.
Watched the snow come down slowly, straight down,
not heavy but enough to start covering
what little had been coming up in the gardens on my block.
I turned on Duke and Coltrane playing
“In a Sentimental Mood”
and went back to the window.
I know the snow will be gone in a week,
but right now
it’s just Duke and ‘Trane and me
and snow all day.
Somebody’s gotta take a walk in this.
